Welcome to the Global Center for Equitable Computer Science Education!
The mission of the center is to understand how to make CS education equitable and accessible for everyone from early childhood to adulthood while addressing opportunity gaps in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Our vision is that teachers and students in all contexts have access to evidence-based practices and resources to actively participate in a computational world. Toward that end, we are collaborating with global partners to:
The Global Center for Equitable CS Education is a partnership between the University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development and the Universidad del Norte in Colombia, and the University of Virginia's College at Wise.
* This work is funded in part by a Global Programs of Distinction grant from the Center for Global Inquiry + Innovation at the University of Virginia.
Our vision is that teachers and students in all contexts have access to evidence-based practices and resources to actively participate in a computational world. Toward that end, we are collaborating with global partners to:
- conduct research to understand how CS learning happens in a variety of contexts
- provide professional learning opportunities to teachers and investigate effective professional learning practices for integrating CS classrooms
- develop and provide low-cost computational tools that are accessible to all
